Introducing Lyra Series Bluetooth 5.3 Modules

Introducing the Lyra Series: A Range of Bluetooth 5.3 Modules

The Lyra series, a range of Bluetooth 5.3 modules, is now available from LED Connectivity in partnership with Silicon Labs. This series utilizes silicon from Silicon Labs called the EFR32BG22, featuring an ARM Cortex-M33 with 512kV of flash and 32kV of RAM.

Module Options

The Lyra series comes in multiple form factors, including a traditional PCB style module with an integrated antenna, and a miniaturized SIP module with an internal antenna as well as the option for an RF pin for external antennas. The SIP module is only 6x6mm in size, while the Lyra P module is 13x15mm.

Key Features

The Lyra series supports a true full industrial temperature range of minus 40 to plus 105 C and has the usual array of certifications, including FCC, ICED, UKCA, CE, KCC, and MIC. It is also fully Bluetooth 5.36 certified, including features such as Bluetooth LE Coded and 2.5MHz.

Development Board Options

There are two development board options available for the Lyra series: one for the PCB module and another for the Lyra S module. The boards have a hardware switch option to select different firmware, a full integrated Segger J-Link debugger, a USB Micro B connector for power and virtual COM port, buttons, LEDs, and a mini Simplicity connector.

External Antenna Options

The Lyra S SIP module has an integrated antenna, but there are also four additional antennas that have been certified for use with this module. These include the Flex Piffer antenna, which is included in the development kit.

Software Options

There are three firmware options available for the Lyra series: the AT Command Set, Wireless Express, and full C code development using Silicon Labs' SDK and Simplicity Studio IDE.

AT Command Set

The AT Command Set is a production-ready cable replacement technology that offers a simple, easy-to-use way to add Bluetooth low energy to existing designs and systems. It provides super-fast time to market and eliminates the need for RF expertise or embedded Bluetooth low energy expertise.

Availability

The Lyra series was publicly announced in February, with full digital content, product brief, and data sheets available at LEDconnect.com. The full product series and mass production will be available with complete certification during Q2 of this year.
