This year, Electronica celebrates its 60th anniversary, and we're proud to be a partner of Renesas at Future Electronics. As part of the celebrations, we visited the Renesas stand to discuss their approach to artificial intelligence (AI) and how it can create a better future. |
We spoke with Valeria and Romina from Renesas about their vision for AI and its potential applications. According to them, one of the biggest conundrums in today's world is how we can make the world better through technology. They believe that AI has the potential to be a game-changer in this regard. |
Renesas offers an extensive portfolio of microcontrollers and microprocessors, ranging from low-end applications such as home appliances to high-end applications like human-machine interface (HMI) and AI. Valeria explained that their microcontrollers can integrate multiple applications and functionalities into one chip. |
We were shown a demonstration of the RA8M1 voice kit, which is capable of natural language understanding. This means that users don't need to use exact sentences or keywords; instead, they can communicate in different ways, and the device will still detect their commands. |
The RA8M1 voice kit runs on the ARM Cortex-M85 core. Romina explained that this demonstration was a result of Renesas' cooperation with their partner Cybrone. |

We were also shown another demonstration of the RA8-D1 standard evaluation kit, which is a surface-type detection demo. This demo uses a camera and AI model to detect different types of surfaces and materials. |
Romina explained that this demo was a result of Renesas' cooperation with their partner DataHP. The device can quickly analyze images from the camera and determine what type of surface it is looking at. |
